Sawari Rider — Privacy Policy
Sawari Rider is a work app. It exists so a rider can receive delivery jobs, be found by the dispatcher while on shift, prove a handover, and see what they have earned and what cash they are carrying. Everything below is data we need for one of those things. We do not sell your data and we do not use it for advertising.
Who we are
This app is operated by Saadhan InfoTech, which runs the Sawari delivery and logistics platform, from Dhangadhi, Nepal.
Questions, requests, or complaints about your data: saadhanpvtltd@gmail.com
What we collect, and why
| What | Why we need it |
|---|---|
| Your mobile number | It is how you sign in. We send a one-time code to it; there is no password. Your number is also how the platform and support identify you. |
| Your name, home city, and preferred language | Given once when you register. The name is shown to the store and the customer you are delivering to, so they know who is coming. |
| Precise location (GPS), including while the app is in the background | While you are on shift, the app sends your position roughly every 3–10 seconds. This is what makes you visible to the dispatcher — a rider whose position is more than 15 seconds old stops being offered work — and it is what lets the store and customer track a delivery in progress. Your position is also recorded at pickup, delivery, and failure, as evidence of where the job actually happened. |
| Identity and licence documents: citizenship certificate, a selfie, driving licence, vehicle bluebook or insurance where the vehicle needs one | Verification. Nepali law and our partners require us to know who is carrying goods and whether they are licensed to ride the vehicle they are using. You upload these as photos or as PDF scans. |
| Vehicle details: type, plate number, make and model | To match you with jobs your vehicle can actually carry, and to verify the vehicle is registered. |
| Proof-of-delivery photos and photos you attach when a delivery fails | Taken with the camera at a doorstep or a store. They are the record that a handover happened, and they are what settles a dispute if a customer or a partner says it did not. |
| Delivery records: which jobs you took, when you moved through each step, the reason a job failed, and any note you type | Running the delivery, paying you for it, and answering a partner's question about it later. |
| Money records: what you earned per day, cash you collected at the door (COD), and cash you have deposited back | Paying you correctly, and keeping the cash ledger straight between you, Sawari, and the shop whose goods you carried. |
| A push notification token for this handset | So a job offer reaches you within seconds. An offer expires quickly; a push is the only way you hear about one when the screen is off. |
All of this is required to work as a Sawari rider. There is no optional data collection in this app, because there is nothing in it that is not part of doing the job.
What we do not collect
- Your contacts, your call log, your messages, or your other apps.
- Photos already on your phone. The proof camera opens the camera; it does not read your gallery. When you upload an identity document you choose that one file yourself, and nothing else is read.
- Advertising identifiers. There is no advertising or marketing tracking in this app.
- Payment card or bank card details. The app never asks for them.
Location, in more detail
Location is shared only while you are on shift.
- Nothing is sent while you are signed out, or while you are offline in the app.
- You start it by going online yourself. It is never started automatically, not even after your phone restarts.
- While it runs, Android shows a permanent notification saying your location is being shared. It disappears the moment you go offline or sign out.
- Going offline, or signing out, stops it immediately.
We ask for background location because your phone is normally in a handlebar mount with the screen off. Without it, the dispatcher would drop you from the list of available riders within seconds of the screen going dark and you would stop being offered work.
Who we share it with
The partner platform that placed the order
Deliveries reach Sawari from partner platforms — a food or retail app whose customer placed the order. For each of their deliveries we send that partner: the status of the delivery, your name as the assigned rider, the time of pickup and drop-off, the amount of cash collected, and the fact that proof was recorded. They need this to tell their own customer what is happening. We do not give partners your identity documents, your location history, or your earnings.
Google (Firebase Cloud Messaging)
Push notifications are delivered through Google's Firebase Cloud Messaging. Google receives the notification token for your handset and the contents of the notification we send you — typically a job identifier, an expiry time, and a short line of text that may include an amount in rupees. Your name, your phone number, your location, and your documents are not sent through Firebase. Google acts as our delivery service for these messages.
Our own staff
Sawari operations staff can see your profile, your documents while verifying them, your deliveries, and your cash ledger. This is how riders get approved, how deposits get confirmed, and how disputes get answered.
Crash reporting
The app can send crash reports to Sentry, an error-tracking service, to help us fix faults. It is switched off in the builds we currently distribute. Where it is switched on, reports are filtered before they leave your phone: phone numbers, login tokens, delivery OTPs, and cash amounts are stripped out, and no screenshots are ever attached.
Nobody else
We do not sell your personal data, we do not share it with advertisers or data brokers, and we do not share it with anyone for their own purposes. We will disclose data where Nepali law requires it, or where it is necessary to establish or defend a legal claim.
How long we keep it
- Live location pings — the fast stream that makes you visible to the dispatcher — are held for 48 hours and then dropped.
- Location history kept for replay and dispute review is deleted after 30 days.
- Proof-of-delivery photos are deleted 180 days after the delivery. That is the window in which a partner can raise a dispute, with some margin; after it, a stranger's doorstep is a liability rather than evidence.
- Identity and vehicle documents are kept for as long as you are a registered Sawari rider, and for a period afterwards where we are required to be able to show who was carrying goods on a given day.
- Delivery and money records are kept for as long as accounting and tax rules require, because they are the record of what you were paid and what cash passed through your hands.
Data on your phone
The app keeps some things on the handset itself so it keeps working where there is no signal: your login tokens (in the phone's encrypted keystore), your current job, your last earnings summary, and any proof photo taken while offline and not yet uploaded. All of it is in the app's private storage, where other apps cannot read it.
Signing out erases all of it, including unsent proof photos. This matters on a shared fleet handset: sign out at the end of your shift and the next rider inherits nothing of yours. Uninstalling the app also removes it.
Security
- Everything the app sends to Sawari travels over an encrypted connection (HTTPS, and encrypted MQTT for location).
- Login tokens are held in the phone's hardware-backed keystore, never in ordinary app preferences.
- Photos and documents are uploaded straight to storage using a short-lived, single-purpose link that only works for the one file it was issued for.
- Signing in requires a one-time code sent to your number. There is no password to leak.
No system is perfect. If we ever discover a breach that affects you, we will tell you.
Your choices and your rights
Permissions you can withdraw
Location, camera, and notification permissions can be turned off at any time in Android Settings. Doing so does not delete anything already collected, but parts of the app stop working: without location you cannot go on shift, and without the camera you cannot record proof of a delivery.
Seeing, correcting, or deleting your data
Email saadhanpvtltd@gmail.com from the address we have for you, or write from any address and tell us the mobile number your rider account uses, and ask for:
- a copy of the personal data we hold about you;
- a correction to anything that is wrong;
- deletion of your account and your data.
We will confirm it is really you — normally by a one-time code to your registered number — and answer within 30 days.
Deleting your account
There is no delete button inside the app yet. To close your rider account, email saadhanpvtltd@gmail.com with the subject "Delete my rider account" and the mobile number you sign in with.
What gets deleted: your profile and name, your mobile number, your identity and vehicle documents, your photos, your saved location history, and your push notification registration.
What we have to keep, and why: records of deliveries you completed and the money involved — what you earned, what cash you collected and deposited. These are accounting records, they involve other people's orders and other people's money, and we cannot delete them on request. We keep them for as long as Nepali accounting and tax rules require, and we detach your name and contact details from them where we can.
We will not close an account while you are still holding uncollected customer cash or an unfinished delivery. We will tell you if that is the case.
Children
Sawari Rider is a work app for adults. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18. You must be an adult and legally able to work to register as a Sawari rider.
Changes to this policy
If we change what we collect or who we share it with, we will update this page and change the date at the top. If the change is significant, we will tell riders in the app or by message before it takes effect.
